Ice Spice and Lil Yachty release the single Out My Face (My Baby)

Ice Spice and Lil Yachty put out a joint single, Out My Face (My Baby), on 28 August, with the two of them joining voices on the chorus over production from Cardo Got Wings. It is the first thing either has released together, and it arrives with a video built to be watched twice.

The clip, like the track, is split down the middle. The first half stages Ice Spice in a run of lightly surreal set-ups, a boardwalk face-in-the-hole board, a crowd of masks of her own face, a moment where she appears pregnant. Then the beat switches and the video switches with it, into a diner scene where Karrahboo and Yachty's fellow Concrete Boys members turn up in passing.

Who directed it depends on where you read. Rolling Stone credits AMD and Little Miles; Pitchfork and That Grape Juice both credit AMD alongside Yachty himself. All three describe the same two-part structure and the same cameos, so the disagreement is over billing rather than content.

Ice Spice raps the opening in the register that made her name: "I was never afraid to fight, I was never the one to run." The track is the clearest sign of movement since her last album, Y2K!, in 2024, a year she followed with the Tokischa duet Thootie, the SpongeBob Movie original Big Guy, Baddie Baddie, a remix of Katseye's Gnarly and a guest turn on Latto's Gyatt.

Yachty has been quieter on his own account. He has not put out a full-length solo record since 2023's Let's Start Here., though he and James Blake released the joint album Bad Cameo the following year, and earlier this summer he cut On Your Mind with FKA twigs.

The single files under hip-hop and joins the rest of the week on the release calendar. Ice Spice's last run of headlines was the $68,000 she still collected for a cancelled college show, while Yachty turns up in a new documentary revisiting the 2016 XXL Freshman class.
