Jake Bugg announces the album Alamo and a 2027 UK and Ireland tour

Jake Bugg has announced his seventh album. Alamo arrives November 13 through Thirty Tigers, and it comes with a country-leaning lead single, "Never Can Tell," and a run of 2027 tour dates.

"The last couple of years have been tough for me and I've had a lot of struggles," Bugg said, describing the record as an attempt to work out where those struggles come from rather than a report on having solved them. After years of touring and making records, he said, it felt like the right time to look inward.

He set the terms for himself early. "Alamo was only going to work if I was going to be honest and be as vulnerable as possible," he said, adding that he has always kept a lot of defences and barriers up and decided it was time to bring them down.

The album was produced by Jimmy Hogarth, a longtime friend whose credits include Amy Winehouse and Paolo Nutini, and Steve McKewan, who has worked with Chris Stapleton and Eminem. The songs lean further toward folk than his earlier material.

"Never Can Tell" nods to Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen and takes up how friendships change once success arrives. Bugg said it is hard to know who to trust, especially growing up the way he did, and that life throws enough parallels at a person that the only guide left is instinct.

The tour is stripped back and solo. It opens at Manchester's Albert Hall on February 6, then runs through Dublin, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Liverpool and Bristol before finishing at London's Union Chapel on February 26. General sale is Friday September 11 at 10am BST, with presales from September 4.

Before any of that he headlines Musicians Corner in Nashville on September 18. His last album, A Modern Day Distraction, arrived in 2024. Other indie release dates are on the release calendar.
