Jay Worthy has released Generation P with his LNDN DRGS partner Sean House and the funk bandleader George Clinton, an album put out on 28 August and framed by everyone involved as an ode to the West Coast.

LNDN DRGS is the long-running partnership between Worthy and House, a producer whose beats have given Worthy's records their consistent texture across a decade. Bringing Clinton into that arrangement puts three generations on one project, and the guest list extends the point rather than decorating it.

Snoop Dogg opens the album proper on Knee Deep. Larry June and Leven Kali share P of the Week, Ty Dolla $ign takes One Nation, Channel Tres and Terrace Martin appear together on Oh I, and Kokane, a fixture of West Coast records for thirty years, turns up on Allegiance.

The back half widens it further. Curren$y appears on Adolescent, 03 Greedo and Eyedress share Chasers, Del the Funky Homosapien and Aceyalone take What It P Like, Ab-Soul closes the record on Holly Wants to Leave, and YG and The Gam appear on a One Nation P Mix that runs after it.

A list like that is the product of relationships rather than budget, and it is the thing Jay Worthy has quietly built over the years while releasing at a steady clip. Generation P follows Knee Deep, the single he put out with George Clinton and Snoop Dogg ahead of the album.

The record files under hip-hop with a heavy soul streak and is logged on the release calendar.
