Jazzahead! 2027 festival unveils a wave of new announcements

Organizers of jazzahead!, the world's largest jazz trade fair and festival, have shared a string of new details ahead of the event's 21st edition in Bremen, Germany, in April 2027.

After three years focused on Jazz from Africa, jazzahead! is introducing a new overseas focus region for 2027: Asia Pacific. Organizers said the shift builds on the earlier program's success, describing it as fulfilling the festival's "ongoing mission to build further and new bridges and to foster even greater exchange and connections." Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania have also been named the festival's 2027 partner countries.

Applications for showcase slots, covering Baltic, German, European and Asia Pacific programs, opened August 25 and close September 30. Musicians must register with jazzahead! before applying.

In the UK, Arts Council England has opened a consultation on future funding for an English delegation at the festival, running through September 7. The funding question follows a 2026 Music Growth Package the UK government launched to support emerging artists, grassroots music infrastructure and creative exports.

The festival is also restructuring its opening night. Rather than a Grand Opening concert, jazzahead! 2027 begins April 21 with an industry-only Exhibitors' Preview, followed by an Auftakt! Welcoming Ceremony at midday on April 22. The jazzahead! Anklang! event, featuring concerts around Bremen's historic Marktplatz, closes out opening festivities that Friday evening.
