Kate Bollinger has announced a new EP called Shop Girl and released its title track, Stereogum reported on August 26.
The Richmond singer-songwriter spent years putting out individual songs before her first full-length arrived. Songs From A Thousand Frames Of Mind came out in 2024 and was her debut album after a long run of shorter releases and one-off tracks.
Chris DeVille, who wrote up the announcement for Stereogum, described her as a reliably excellent and retro-tinted writer, and framed Shop Girl as a return to the EP format she worked in before the album. That places the new release closer to how she built her catalogue in the first place than to a second full-length.
Little else was confirmed alongside it. No release date, label or tracklist was given for the EP, and the title track is the only music from it that has been made public so far.
Shop Girl joins the release calendar as an undated entry until more is announced. Bollinger's writing sits between indie guitar music and unhurried pop, which is roughly where the title track lands as well.
