Ken Carson has released Cartunez, the deluxe edition of his album Xperiment, after teasing and delaying it for weeks.
The project arrived on August 27 with 13 new songs. HotNewHipHop, which covered the release, noted that Carson had pushed the date back several times before finally putting it out, and that the tracks stay within his established sound rather than pushing at it.
That last point matters because of how Xperiment landed. The album came out the previous month and divided his audience, mostly because listeners felt the title promised more experimentation than the record delivered. Cartunez does not answer that complaint so much as sidestep it, giving fans more of what they already came for.
The tracklist runs from "scrape" through to "yvngvmp", with guests kept to a small circle. Destroy Lonely appears on "roxy reynolds", OsamaSon on "vamp city" and ApolloRed1 on "9 bitches".
That last song is the one that has drawn attention outside his own fanbase. It names Nine Vicious directly, making explicit a beef that had previously been implied, and Carson and ApolloRed1 aim it squarely at the former YSL rapper.
Cartunez is a deluxe rather than a standalone album, which is how it is being counted, and it joins the release calendar among the week's hip-hop releases.
