Lamplight detail the album Lick The Spoon, Let It Soften

Lamplight, the project led by Brooklyn and Roanoke musician Ian Williams, have announced a new album called Lick The Spoon, Let It Soften and released the single "Clover" alongside it.

The band's self-titled debut arrived in 2024, recorded with Kevin Copeland of Lightning Bug and released through Western Vinyl. That record established the unhurried, rural-leaning sound Williams has stayed with, built more on space and repetition than on studio polish.

Chris DeVille, reporting the announcement for Stereogum on August 26, quoted the band's own description of the new material as creek-steeped folk. It is a phrase that fits the debut as well, and suggests the second album is a continuation rather than a reset.

Details beyond the title and the single have not been shared. No release date, label or tracklist came with the announcement, and "Clover" is the only track from the record that has been made public.

The gap between the two albums is roughly two years, which puts Lamplight on a steady release rhythm rather than the long silence that often follows a well-received debut. Williams has kept the project small, working with a narrow circle of collaborators rather than expanding the lineup.

Lick The Spoon, Let It Soften joins the release calendar without a firm date. It sits at the quieter end of indie songwriting, closer to folk than to anything played loud.
