Lindsey Webster and Anthony Hamilton released a duet called Best In Me, and SoulBounce premiered the music video for it on August 6. The song comes from Webster's seventh album, Music In Me, released in February, which marks the first album in her discography to feature duets.
Webster also paired with R&B and soul singer Stokley on the album, covering the Stephanie Mills and Teddy Pendergrass classic Two Hearts to open the album cycle. Best In Me was co-written by Webster, Hamilton, Keith Slattery, Lorenzo Johnson and Rob Chiarelli, and was originally planned as a solo track before it became a duet.
"Working with Anthony Hamilton was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for me. I have been a fan since the beginning," Webster said in a press release.
The two shot the video in Hamilton's hometown of Charlotte, North Carolina, filming outdoor verses in front of a mural before moving to black-and-white studio scenes of them recording the track. Webster and Hamilton had originally planned a duet for her 2023 album You Change that never materialized.
SoulBounce described Webster's fanbase as loyal listeners drawn to her fusion of neo-soul, jazz, R&B and pop, a blend that carries through both of Music In Me's guest turns. Webster called the timing of finally landing a Hamilton duet fitting: "It just goes to show you how things can work out for the better, even when it seems like things are falling apart."
