Live Nation plans the Sao Paulo Arena, a 21,000-capacity venue

Live Nation is set to build the Sao Paulo Arena, a 21,000-capacity indoor venue in Sao Paulo, Brazil, that the company says will be South America's largest when it is finished. The plan, announced on Live Nation's website on July 30, places the arena in Cidade Center Norte, a shopping and entertainment district in the north of the city, built in partnership with local planning officials.

Live Nation is calling it Brazil's first purpose-built arena, and the company expects it to host around 200 events a year once construction wraps in 2028. Live Nation Entertainment's president and CEO Michael Rapino called the plan a chance to give the city "an arena that reflects the energy, passion and cultural influence" of Sao Paulo, adding that he hopes the venue becomes a "destination for unforgettable live experiences."

The plan was first reported in early August, when Live Nation confirmed it had teamed up with a local developer on the Sao Paulo Arena project; this new announcement lays out the venue's capacity, its target opening year and the district where it will sit.

The Sao Paulo announcement lands amid ongoing scrutiny of Live Nation's dominance in live events. In May, the UK's Business and Trade Committee called for fresh investigations into the company after a report found it controlled 58% of the 23.1 million primary tickets sold in 2025, part of a wider set of legal probes into Live Nation and its Ticketmaster subsidiary across the US, UK and Europe.

Live Nation has not detailed a construction timeline beyond the 2028 target, and no lineup or opening event has been named for the venue. Beyond Rapino's statement, no further specifics on design or programming have been shared.
