London duo Lover1k has signed to Underplay Recordings and released "On My Own," their first single for the label. The Line of Best Fit published the track on August 18, 2026.
Lover1k is made up of DJ Alice Roberts and Lev Ceylan, who also produces under the name Ebbb and plays guitar in the band Butch Cassidy. The pair met last year through overlapping music circles and previously appeared on Slow Dance Recordings' 25th anniversary compilation with the song "Liiiiights." "On My Own" mixes dancehall, hyperpop and rave elements, with additional production from Big Softy.
Roberts said the song grew out of feeling worn down by dating as a woman, describing how movies set unrealistic expectations that rarely match reality: "we grow up watching movies that make us feel like we're going to meet someone who will think we're the best person in the world." She said the pattern of being "love bombed" only to find it was routine had become normalized, and the track is about being "sick of it and knowing better."
"On My Own" is out now on Underplay Recordings, giving the label a new signing built around Roberts and Ceylan's overlapping resumes in DJing, production and guitar-based bands alike.
Lover1k's arrival on the label adds to a busy week for new indie signings, with more upcoming releases tracked on the release calendar.
