The Crater debuted in 2024 as a 360-degree structure ringed by lasers, giving fans a fully immersive view regardless of where they stood in the crowd. Producers expanded its footprint in 2025 to accommodate full pyrotechnics and improve sightlines, but heavy foot traffic around the area persisted even after that expansion, prompting yet another redesign and new pedestrian pathways for 2026.
The stage upgrades arrive alongside broader infrastructure investment across the festival's Legend Valley grounds, including a new permanent pedestrian tunnel under Route 13 connecting the campgrounds to the festival grounds, replacing the temporary footbridge used in prior years.
