Lucy Dacus brings Julien Baker onstage at the Outside Lands festival

It's the second time this year Dacus has shared the song live with someone other than its original guest, Hozier.

Lucy Dacus brought her Boygenius bandmate Julien Baker onstage at the Outside Lands festival in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park, and the two performed "Bullseye" together. "I wanna invite my best friend to the stage," Dacus told the crowd. "Would Julien Baker please join?" Baker sang while Dacus played the song on acoustic guitar.

"Bullseye" comes from Dacus's latest indie album, Forever Is a Feeling, where it originally features Hozier. Hozier joined Dacus to perform the song in New York earlier this year, and in 2024 he brought her out to sing "I, Carrion (Icarian)" at one of his own New York shows.

Baker and Dacus confirmed a romantic relationship last year, and Dacus has said the new album was partly inspired by it. She has spoken about discomfort with fans treating their story "like a Marvel Universe," though she says she still keeps some of it for herself. "Some parts of my story I keep for myself, but this is the story that defines my life," she said.

The rest of Dacus's Outside Lands set leaned on guest turns and deep cuts: she played the Boygenius song "True Blue," and Hayley Williams joined for another performance of "Bullseye" while Madi Diaz appeared for "Heavy Metal." Dacus had already guested during Williams's own set at Newport Folk Festival last month, alongside Jack Antonoff, Jenny Lewis, Remi Wolf, Joy Oladokun and Wednesday's Karly Hartzman, and brought out The Killers' Brandon Flowers for a cover of Jim Croce's "Time in a Bottle."

Guest appearances have become a running theme of Dacus's year: she joined The Killers onstage at Montreal's Osheaga Festival last August for a rendition of "Read My Mind," and earlier this year she teamed up with Chappell Roan for a cover of the Magnetic Fields' "The Book of Love" at a Sudan and Palestine aid benefit show in Los Angeles organized by Mustafa.
