Mac DeMarco has put four albums on streaming services that until this week existed only as CDs handed to people at his own shows. Dog on the Rock, Seven Off the Two and Seaplane Dog came out in 2025; The View From Tian Tian followed this year. All four went up through Mac's Record Label on August 28.
Between them they carry 47 songs. Almost every one is titled with a string of numbers, which listeners have read as the date each track was recorded, and only two have proper names: "Madam Crown" and "Wave Goodbye," both from Seaplane Dog. The scrappy origins survive the move to streaming rather than being tidied away.
The practice is not new for him. One Wayne G, released in 2023, ran to a far larger pile of dated sketches, and this is the same working method distributed by hand instead of uploaded. Handing a disc to somebody at a merch table is a deliberately small distribution, and it kept these recordings out of the algorithm entirely until now.
That leaves an odd fact about his discography. Guitar, released in 2025, was the last record most people would name as his most recent, and it was accurate only because the other four were unavailable to anyone who had not been in the right room on the right night. The catalogue has effectively grown by four albums overnight without a single new session.
DeMarco has stayed on the road since Guitar, and the touring is what put the discs in circulation in the first place. More 2026 dates run through the UK, Europe, the United States and Mexico into late November.
The releases are filed under indie and rock, and their dates join the rest of the autumn schedule on the release calendar. Surprise drops have been a recurring shape this month, from King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard putting out Alien Metal at midnight to Ween unloading an EP of country-era outtakes called Golden Wastes.
