Pop icons Madonna and Kylie Minogue released "Love Sensation (Afterhours Mix)" worldwide on August 7 through Warner Records, a Minogue-fronted rework of "Love Sensation," the second single from Madonna's "Confessions II," NME reported. Longtime Madonna collaborator Stuart Price produced the track, extending a partnership that stretches back to "Confessions on a Dance Floor" and continues through the new album.
The release followed a surprise live debut days earlier, when Minogue joined Madonna onstage for the closing "Club Confessions" show at WorldPride Amsterdam on August 1.
There's a neat irony in how the collaboration became official: Minogue had shut down rumors of a team-up back in May, telling the Los Angeles Times she wasn't on the album and calling the speculation random. She was technically right. The pairing was never destined for "Confessions II" itself, arriving instead as a standalone remix once the album was already out.
The song arrives with real chart momentum behind it: the original "Love Sensation" reached the top of Dance Radio, following "I Feel So Free," the album's opening single, which did the same. The achievement extends Madonna's run of scoring number one dance hits across five consecutive decades, more than any artist in chart history.
Friday marked the first time Madonna and Minogue had released music together, though the two had been building toward it publicly. They first shared a stage on Madonna's Celebration Tour in Los Angeles in 2024, performing Gloria Gaynor's "I Will Survive" and Minogue's "Can't Get You Out of My Head," and Minogue later appeared alongside Madonna in the BBC's "Madonna and Graham" special in June, part of a run of high-profile pairings also covered in Singer Kylie Minogue joins Madonna one night and Nick Cave the next.
Both artists' recent albums drew strong reviews from NME, which gave "Confessions II" four stars, writing that "by drawing from her past, both personally and musically, Madonna has made her most vital album in over two decades." The outlet gave Minogue's 2024 album "Tension II" five stars, calling it "tighter yet bolder, sexier yet sadder" than its predecessor. Confirming her album's success in its own right, Madonna's new album "Confessions II" debuts at No. 1 on the Billboard charts.
