Massive Attack, the Bristol trip-hop group, have teamed up with the Dublin football club Bohemian F.C. to launch a new shirt raising funds for medical aid to Cuba, NME reported on August 14. Thirty per cent of profits will go to the Cuba Solidarity Campaign's Cuba Vive Medical Aid Appeal and to mediCuba-Europa, which the band said arrange "urgent shipments of medical aid to Cuba" amid what they called an illegal US blockade.
The 2026 FAI Cup/Third jersey pays homage to historic Cuban kits, with thick khaki and black stripes and a red neck shape centred by a white star drawn from the Cuban flag. Massive Attack's band logo appears on the front alongside words from a historic Che Guevara address, and the crest carries a line from the band's hit "Teardrop," translated into Irish, meaning "love is a doing word."
Massive Attack are the latest act to design a shirt with Bohemian F.C., following Oasis, Fontaines D.C., Kneecap and Jazzy. Bohemian F.C.'s Chief Commercial Officer Daniel Lambert, who also manages Kneecap, said the jersey follows months of work between the group and the club. Cuba Vive Medical Aid Appeal's Natasha Hickman said "the US blockade is driving Cuba's deepest humanitarian crisis in decades," pointing to rising infant mortality from shortages of medical supplies and fuel.
The shirt lands during an active year of political activity for the band. Massive Attack said earlier this month two of the group's members were banned from re-entering Singapore after displaying a Palestinian flag at a concert there, describing being detained and questioned by police. The band, who have boycotted performing in Israel since 1999, also issued a statement of support for Kneecap last year after the Irish trio came under UK counter-terrorism investigation, and frontman Robert Del Naja was arrested this year while protesting the UK's ban on Palestine Action.
