Megadeth add a 24 date European leg to their metal farewell tour

Dave Mustaine says the run, joined by Testament and Black Label Society, is about "celebrating everything we've built" rather than saying goodbye.

Megadeth are adding a 24-date European leg, titled "Breakout: Hibernation of the Nations," to their farewell tour, joined by fellow thrash veterans Testament and Zakk Wylde's Black Label Society, Metal Injection reported. The run opens March 9, 2027, in Belfast and closes April 13 in Lisbon.

The tour follows a milestone year for the metal band: their self-titled, 17th and reportedly final studio album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 on its Jan. 23 release, the only Megadeth album ever to top the chart. The new European dates hit 12 of the 22 markets where that album charted in the top five.

"This isn't about saying goodbye," Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine said of the run. "It's about celebrating everything we've built together over the last four decades." He added that "every city has its own story, every crowd has given us unforgettable memories," and that the band wanted to return and celebrate with the fans who made it possible.

Ticket access rolls out in stages: members of the band's "Cyber Army" fan club get an exclusive presale starting Aug. 4, an artist presale follows Aug. 5, and general on-sale tickets go live Aug. 7, all at 10 a.m. local time in each market.

The route runs through the UK first, with stops in Belfast, London, Nottingham, Manchester, Cardiff, Glasgow, Birmingham and Leeds, before crossing into mainland Europe for shows in Paris, Brussels, Amsterdam, Düsseldorf, Copenhagen, Oslo, Hamburg, Berlin, Kraków, Munich, Bern, Milan, Lyon, Barcelona, Madrid and finally Lisbon.
