Melbourne venue Misfits, a bar and live music space on Chambers St in Footscray, has announced it is closing after just two years. The team shared the news on Instagram over the weekend, saying the "countdown has officially begun," though no firm closing date has been set.
Misfits opened in March 2024 and built a reputation for electronic music bookings and live shows, hosting both local and international artists including Plastician, Doc Scott, Jael, Arthi and Denham Audio. "After a lot of good nights, loud nights, questionable decisions and some genuinely magic moments, Misfits will soon be closing its doors," the venue's team wrote.
The statement described Misfits as "more than four walls," calling it a home for "artists, weirdos, regulars, first dates, last drinks and communities that found each other somewhere on a dancefloor." The team thanked everyone who had "played a show, DJ'd, poured a drink, or simply wandered in and made this place feel alive."
Misfits said it is "not disappearing just yet," with a run of parties still planned before its final night, and pointed fans to its gig guide for the chance to "help us give Misfits the send-off it deserves."
