London-based cellist and singer midori jaeger has released a new single, safe, the latest preview of her upcoming EP (Re)planted, The Line of Best Fit reported on August 5. It follows previous singles planted and hunted.
safe is described as one of the most intimate moments on the EP. The acoustic track follows a delicate cello rhythm as jaeger explores what it means to feel secure while navigating uncertainty within a living situation.
"The 'house within a house' I mention in safe was the flat I rented with my ex-partner, a home that had felt safe," jaeger said, adding that the space felt stable while also uncertain and stifling.
"The song asks if another person can ever be truly aware of how safe they had made life feel," she said, questioning the chasm that can exist between two people who are, in her words, contradictorily so close.
(Re)planted is due out August 26, and you can track this indie EP and other coming releases on the release calendar.
