Musixmatch has launched Pro for Labels, a hub built to help record companies manage, enrich and distribute lyrics at scale. It went live on September 2 and is aimed at labels of any size, from an independent with a handful of artists to an organisation handling thousands of artists and releases.
The pitch rests on an attention problem. Musixmatch cites MIDiA Research finding that 77% of label respondents believe it is getting harder to hold audience and fan interest. The company's counter-argument is that lyrics are one of the few surfaces where a listener slows down: it says people who engage deeply with lyrics and music creation are nearly four times more likely to buy merchandise and twice as likely to attend a live show.
"Lyrics turn a passing listen into something personal," said Rio Caraeff, co-president at Musixmatch, framing the product as a way for labels to get more out of repertoire they already own.
The work it replaces is manual. Compiling, synchronising, translating and distributing lyrics across thousands of tracks takes staff time, and gaps in a catalogue are hard to spot. Pro for Labels runs a catalogue audit that flags those gaps, lets teams create and time-sync lyrics ahead of a song's release, manages translations, and pushes lyrics out across supported streaming services and social platforms. The syncing can be automated with the company's AI transcription or handed to its own curators.
There is a promotional and analytics layer on top: lyric-driven assets for digital and social channels, a dashboard that centralises streaming information and compares artist performance by channel and geography, and Music Lens, the agentic AI Musixmatch launched in November, for querying a catalogue directly.
The company has scale behind the launch. More than 1,000 labels already use Musixmatch Pro, and the Bologna-based firm, now 16 years into building music data tools, says its verified database is trusted by more than 250,000 rights owners and publishers and nearly three million songwriters across more than 250 languages.
It has also been busy on the rights side. In October 2025 it signed AI licensing agreements with Sony Music Publishing, Universal Music Publishing Group and Warner Chappell Music covering more than 15 million works, and in March 2026 it launched Sentinel, which detects copyrighted lyrics in AI and user-generated content. We covered the first customer for that tool in Musixmatch signs up Suno for Sentinel, and the wider fight over lyrics and AI in Anthropic moving to dismiss part of the publishers' lyrics case.
