O Slow shares new single "NO BODY"

Brooklyn artist Jacqui Miranda, who records as O Slow, released a new single, "NO BODY," on August 6. The track opens in a haze of churning guitars before shifting into a shimmering, synth-driven melody: the guitars drop out as Miranda's vocals shine and twirl, carving a stark contrast with the tense, spiky opening.

From there the track mutates again, reintroducing the gauzy guitars before pulling back and replacing them with oscillating synth tones, distorted string beds and woozy ambient touches, all while keeping what Under the Radar's premiere called a relentless sense of forward motion between moments of glassy beauty and anxious tension.

Miranda has spent years building O Slow's crystalline alt-pop sound, layering in dream-pop haze, shoegaze effects and icy electronica. She shared her debut EP, Night Shine, Through Me, last year, and "NO BODY" is the second single from her upcoming debut full length, Antenna, following lead single "Shine" earlier this month.

The song's lyrics repeat a compulsive refrain: "Nobody, nobody, nobody, nobody, wants to know me, gets to know me." Miranda said the words grew out of "the frustrations that come with wanting to connect with people but getting in your own way or feeling like no one is listening," calling the writing process her way of working through those patterns "in hopes of healing and transcending from them."

Antenna is out everywhere on September 8, giving O Slow's rollout a clear finish line after a year built almost entirely around singles. The album will join the rest of the fall's new pop and indie full lengths on the release calendar once it arrives, with "NO BODY" standing as the clearest signal yet of the record's mood.
