Oakland rapper Ovrkast. sets October 9 for the album "STRIKING"

Twelve tracks on the Brooklyn label three times LOUDER, built over a year and a half from an idea that began as an expansion of his last record.

Ovrkast.

Ovrkast., the East Oakland rapper and producer, will release his album STRIKING on October 9 through three times LOUDER, a Brooklyn label. It is the follow-up to While The Iron Is Hot, the 2025 project that moved him from a regional name to a national one.

Three singles have already landed from it: "Wata" with Niontay, "Play This", and the recent "PANE" with Self Proclaimed Narcissist. Together they sketch out a record that keeps his jazz-leaning, sample-heavy production intact rather than trading it for something glossier.

The album runs to 12 tracks. He has pointed to Kendrick Lamar's DAMN and Jay-Z's 4:44 as reference points for how the songs are sequenced and how the writing carries weight, while the sound itself stays closer to Madlib, J Dilla and the Bay Area producers he grew up around.

Grant Lapointe, Like and string arranger Aaron Paris co-created the record with him. It started as an expansion of While The Iron Is Hot and grew into a separate project across roughly a year and a half, before a week-long writing camp in Los Angeles with returning collaborators pulled it into final shape.

STRIKING is his second full-length in as many years and lands in a busy autumn for hip-hop releases. Its October 9 date is logged on the release calendar.
