Singer Paris Jackson releases second album "Happiest Day Of My Life"

Paris Jackson will release her second album, Happiest Day Of My Life, on Friday, August 21, made in collaboration with Linda Perry, NME reported. Ahead of the release, Jackson gave an interview on the On Purpose With Jay Shetty podcast, where she opened up about her past addiction and recovery, now six years sober.

Jackson reflected on perforating her septum through snorting drugs, describing the damage in blunt terms. "I blew a hole through my nose, which is public knowledge," she said. "It's not deviated, it's perforated, so it whistles. You can see straight through my nose."

She described the moment she first discovered the injury, saying she "freaked out" after noticing blood and looking in a mirror. A doctor later told her the damage could be repaired but warned that continued drug use could cause it again. "There's only so many reconstructive surgeries we can do," she recalled the doctor saying. "So if you're not done, I wouldn't bother yet."

Jackson first revealed the injury publicly last November in a TikTok video, shining a light through the hole and adding a blunt message: "Don't do drugs, kids." She marked six years of sobriety in January, telling others facing mental health struggles that they were "not alone."

Happiest Day Of My Life is Jackson's first album since her 2020 debut, Wilted, which NME gave three stars, calling it "enthralling, inconsistent and, at times, excellent" and describing the record as caught between "twee folksy pop" and "the bewildering alt-rock icon she may become."

Jackson has also recently said she no longer feels obligated to post public tributes to her late father, Michael Jackson, because doing so could feel "performative." "I'm in a very beautiful spot with my dad, and I love that, and it's no one else's business," she said. In May, she secured a legal win in a dispute over her father's finances, when a court ruled that $625,000 would be returned to his estate.

Happiest Day Of My Life arrives as her most direct reckoning yet with that history, released with the same honesty she has brought to talking about it publicly, and the release is tracked on the release calendar alongside the rest of this week's pop news.
