Pete Ferguson of Wuh Oh starts a new band, Ferguson Hi-Fi, with the single Get Over It

Pete Ferguson, formerly of Wuh Oh, has launched a new Glasgow band called Ferguson Hi-Fi, The Line of Best Fit reported on August 14. Its debut single, Get Over It, is out now on Movie Records, and features Stevie Jackson of Belle & Sebastian and Dave McGowan of Teenage Fanclub, alongside full time members Darren McCaughey, Rachel Wilson and Shaun Hood.

Ferguson wrote the song in the middle of the night before a studio session already booked with Jackson, McGowan and his own brother Mike, and said he brought it to what he called his ad hoc Glasgow supergroup. The single follows a difficult stretch for Ferguson, who left a major label deal before the pandemic and has said he later stopped drinking and returned to Glasgow.

Ferguson described the middle-of-the-night session that produced the song: "I got out of bed in the middle of the night, picked up the guitar and thrashed out what would become Get Over It." He said the track mixes "bitter rumination" with "a sort of burgeoning excitement for being free of the whole thing."

Ferguson has worked with Belle & Sebastian before, writing and producing I Don't Know What You See In Me from their album Late Developers, and has written for Sophie Ellis-Bextor, D.O.D. and Hannah Laing under the Wuh Oh name.

Ferguson Hi-Fi have already played early Glasgow shows, including a support slot with Sharp Pins, and are booked to appear at Tenement Trail on 10 October.
