A documentary about the country singer Randy Owen, called My Home's In Alabama, subtitled The Randy Owen Story, will premiere August 8 at 7 p.m. CT on Alabama Public Television, MusicRow reported on August 4. The film was produced by Jacksonville State University and offers what MusicRow called an unfiltered look at one of country music's most recognizable voices.

The documentary follows Owen's path from his upbringing in Fort Payne, Alabama, to fronting the band Alabama, pairing cinematography of the Alabama landscapes that shaped his life with personal reflections, career-defining moments and conversations with family, friends and fellow artists. Alabama founding member Teddy Gentry, Jamey Johnson and Riley Green are among those who appear, offering insight into Owen's impact on country music and the people whose lives he has touched.

Alabama has sold more than 75 million albums worldwide and earned 43 No. 1 singles, making it one of the most decorated and influential acts in country music history. Rather than dwell on those accolades, MusicRow reported, the film shifts its focus toward the faith, family and humble beginnings that Owen says continue to define him and keep him connected to the community he has always called home.

Viewers can watch My Home's In Alabama on their local APT station, stream it live through the free PBS Video App on iPhone, iPad, Android, Roku, Apple TV and Amazon Fire TV, or watch online through the APT website.
