Rhiannon Giddens extends her tour into 2027 in her album release week

Rhiannon Giddens has extended her touring schedule into 2027, announced in the same week that Hope Is the Thing with Feathers arrived on 18 September. The album landed with two hometown-adjacent New York shows on 18 and 19 September, and the itinerary runs from there through to the end of next February.

The immediate leg is European. Giddens plays Groningen and Antwerp on 22 and 23 September, Utrecht on the 24th, Paris on the 26th, the Philharmonie in Luxembourg on the 27th, Manchester's Albert Hall on the 29th, Dublin's Vicar Street on the 30th, Cork on 1 October and Ulster Hall in Belfast on 3 October, that last one with the pianist Lara Downes.

The autumn US dates are a mixture of concerts and appearances. Rowan University in Glassboro on 30 October and Carnegie Hall on 14 November are performances; the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis on 1 November, Mount Holyoke on the 3rd and three consecutive nights at Amherst College from the 4th to the 6th are marked as speaking dates, which is a reminder that the touring version of Giddens has always included the historian as well as the musician.

The outlier is Hamburg. She plays five straight nights at the Elbphilharmonie from 25 to 29 November, one of them with her long-time collaborator Francesco Turrisi and one of them a book talk with the author Kristina R. Gaddy. Five nights in a single concert hall is an unusual booking for an artist at this level, and it suggests a residency built around different material each evening rather than a repeated set.

December closes the year in Britain: KOKO in London on the 6th, the Assembly Rooms in Edinburgh on the 7th, and Sage Two at The Glasshouse in Gateshead on the 8th.

The 2027 run is the new part. It opens at the Newman Center in Denver on 30 January, then covers February almost end to end, with The Fillmore in San Francisco on the 9th, San Luis Obispo, San Diego and The Wiltern in Los Angeles on the 13th, Lawrence, Thalia Hall in Chicago on the 17th, Milwaukee, Pittsburgh, two Canadian stops at Toronto's Massey Hall on the 22nd and Montreal's Theatre Beanfield on the 23rd, Ridgefield, Kings Theatre in Brooklyn on the 27th and The Anthem in Washington on the 28th.

Tickets went on general sale on 18 September at 10am ET, with a Massey Hall presale running ahead of it under the code FLOWERS. Giddens has been one of the more visible figures in the current wave of Black American roots scholarship becoming mainstream concert programming, a lane that also carries Bela Fleck, who played the Tiny Desk with Renee Fleming earlier this year. Other country and roots acts booking well into 2027 include Dylan Gossett, who has plotted a UK run of his own. Every date is listed in the tour guide.
