Rio Da Yung OG has announced a new album, The World Is Yours, due out September 11, alongside its lead single, "Finna Drop (Tour)."
"Finna Drop (Tour)" rides a minor-key piano loop and a steady ripple of 808s, with the Flint, Michigan rapper rapping about his bankroll and his willingness to fight anyone who tests him. FADER called it a familiar showcase of his usual tricks, flow shifted into double time, mid-verse switchbacks that snag against the drums, that still finds a way to feel fresh.
The song name-checks Future and Rylo Rodriguez, both of whom had already released their own projects by the time Rio dropped his single, and leans into the fast-talking, hyper-detailed style that has defined his catalog. Rio has built a reputation as one of Michigan's most prolific rappers, releasing a steady stream of albums and mixtapes out of Flint over the past several years.
The World Is Yours is Rio's next full-length and follows a run of profiles and coverage, including a FADER feature that spent 14 hours following the rapper through a day in the studio and on the road.
The album is now part of the wave of new hip-hop releases tracked on the release calendar ahead of its September 11 release.
