Rough Trade reissues The Fall, Scritti Politti and Mazzy Star on new singles box set

Rough Trade is releasing a new box set of 7-inch singles from the label's archives, its second in a series that revisits classic Rough Trade releases. "Rough Trade 45s: Volume 2" pulls singles from the 1980s and 1990s by acts including The Fall, whose "Totally Wired" and "Putta Block" both feature, alongside Scritti Politti's "The Sweetest Girl" and "Lions After Slumber" and Mazzy Star's "Five String Serenade" and "Blue Flower."

The set also includes The Go-Betweens' "Cattle And Cane" and "Heaven Says," The Smiths' "Headmaster Ritual" and "I Want The One I Can't Have," and Robert Wyatt's "Shipbuilding" and "Memories Of You," among further singles from the era.

The songs were handpicked by Rough Trade's co-managing directors, Jeannette Lee and Geoff Travis, described in the announcement as a mix of key releases and personal favourites. Sleeve notes for the box set carry new interviews with Lee and Travis, along with contributions from Elvis Costello, Harriet Wheeler, Anton Corbijn and Stewart Lee.

The release follows the first volume in the series, which came out last year, and lands during what the announcement described as a period in which Rough Trade came of age as a label. "Rough Trade 45s: Volume 2" is available for preorder now, with the box set itself due October 30, 2026.

It arrives in the release calendar as one of the year's new rock reissues, filed alongside The Fall's wider catalog of archival releases.
