Roxy Music expand the album For Your Pleasure with demos nobody has heard

Roxy Music have announced an expanded edition of their 1973 album For Your Pleasure, due 6 November, and have already shared a previously unreleased 1971 demo of Grey Lagoons, The Line of Best Fit reported on August 14. The demo, recorded before the band's debut with Graham Simpson on bass and Roger Bunn on guitar, was originally titled The Bogus Man Part 2.

The reissue pulls together home demos, studio outtakes, live sessions and TV appearances, and will appear in several formats including a 3CD plus 1DVD Super Deluxe Edition, 2CD, 2LP, digital, Blu-ray and Dolby Atmos. The Super Deluxe carries 20 unheard songwriting sketches recorded at home by Bryan Ferry, band rehearsals and studio outtakes, plus 14 previously unheard live sessions and instrumentals.

Ferry recalled writing at Nick de Ville's cottage in Derbyshire, saying there was a strong urge in the band to get back into the studio and make a better record than their first. He described the added pressure of a second album directly: "I felt a responsibility for the work that I hadn't for the first album."

De Ville also recalled the album's cover shoot, staged with model Amanda Lear and a Cadillac de Ville in an empty Marylebone car showroom, calling it the kind of shoot where "good pros (and inspired amateurs) always see their way through."

For Your Pleasure was also the last Roxy Music album to feature Brian Eno before he left the group. The reissue follows an earlier report of the same Grey Lagoons demo, and arrives more than 50 years after For Your Pleasure's original release.
