Rush add four arena dates to the Fifty Something Tour

Rush have added four shows to the Fifty Something Tour, and the reason is unusually cheerful: the band left themselves more recovery time than they turned out to need.

Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson announced one night stands at Toyota Center in Houston on October 1, Enterprise Center in St. Louis on October 21, Heritage Bank Center in Cincinnati on October 23 and PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh on November 15. All four cities were missing from the itinerary published earlier this year.

"We intentionally left a lot of recovery days in our tour schedule because we weren't sure how we'd be holding up," the pair said, adding that things are going fine and they saw no reason not to add more. The caution made sense at the time. Neither had toured since the R40 Live run finished in 2015, and a decade off leaves real questions about what a body will tolerate.

The tour opened on June 7 at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles. Lee and Lifeson play with drummer Anika Nilles, who took on the job of performing parts written and played by the late Neil Peart, and keyboardist Loren Gold. The run is built around multiple night stands in many markets with setlists that change from show to show, drawing across more than fifty years of material.

Tickets and VIP packages for the four new dates go on sale on Friday, September 4 at 10am local time. The North American leg continues through December, and the band take the tour to South America and Europe in 2027.

Peart's presence hangs over the whole thing, and the band have addressed it rather than avoided it: his widow gave her blessing to Nilles, and a documentary about him arrives this fall. Other rock routings are collected on the tour guide.
