Saint Clair, Cutscene and Wool play DIY's Neu Nights gig series in Newcastle

Saint Clair, Cutscene and Wool are confirmed for the Newcastle edition of DIY Neu Nights, DIY magazine's live gig series backed by PRS For Music, with the show set for Zerox on Thursday, September 3.

DIY Neu Nights is a touring showcase built around new and emerging acts. The series opened this summer with Bristol trio MOULD, who used a headline set at Bermondsey Social Club in London to amp up anticipation for their just-released debut album, Hoping As A Coping Mechanism. Leeds group L'objectif joined the London bill too, giving attendees an early preview of new studio material.

London quartet Saint Clair top the Newcastle bill on the strength of their debut EP, Something to Be Said, alt-rock DIY compares to Pixies and Radiohead. Manchester's Cutscene bring the post-punk that stood out at the magazine's BRITs Fringe showcase, and local act Wool round out the night.

The Newcastle date also doubles as an example of PRS For Music's Livelihood campaign, which signs up independent venues and emerging artists like Wool as members so they collect performance royalties whenever their music is played live. Members simply submit their setlist after a show, and PRS handles the collection and payment from there.
