Sandra St. Victor announces new solo album Eleven

Sandra St. Victor, the founding voice of The Family Stand, has announced her first solo album in more than a decade, titled Eleven.

St. Victor has spent more than three decades working across soul, funk, rock, gospel and jazz, building a resume that includes collaborations with Curtis Mayfield, Prince, Chaka Khan, Tina Turner, Common and Lalah Hathaway. Now based in the Netherlands, she returns with a 14-track record that blends soul, jazz, boogie and dance music while drawing on that long history.

Eleven features an extensive cast of longtime collaborators, including The Family Stand's V. Jeffrey Smith and Emmanuel "Eman" Anene Jr., alongside Adam Dorn (known as Mocean Worker), Ty Macklin and Tom Hammer, plus regulars from her Mother Tongue project including Kaidi Tatham and Mark de Clive-Lowe. The album's most notable guest turn comes on "No More Water," which pairs St. Victor with Hathaway for a duet the two trade with what press materials describe as effortless chemistry.

The record moves between moods across its 14 tracks, opening with the neo-soul groove of "Enter 11" before shifting through the deep house-inflected "Life," the broken-beat drift of "Moonchild," and the boom-bap-leaning "Black Ice." St. Victor closes the album's main sequence with "Dizzy," a showcase for her vocal control, before an extended "Regarding Leon (Midnight Mix)" caps the collection.

The announcement adds to a busy year for R&B and soul veterans returning to the spotlight, alongside new albums from Dawn Richard and Erykah Badu and The Alchemist, giving St. Victor's longtime fans their first taste of new solo material from an artist better known in recent decades for session and collaborative work than solo releases. Eleven's arrival can be tracked alongside other upcoming records in the release calendar.
