SESAC has promoted Abbey Watson to Manager, Creative Services, moving her up within the team that works directly with the songwriters and publishers affiliated to the organisation.
Watson is a graduate of Belmont University in Nashville and joined SESAC in 2021, which makes this a promotion inside a five-year run at the same organisation rather than a hire from outside.
Her brief goes beyond client-facing work. SESAC describes her as a key liaison between its internal departments and its external business partners, and credits her with a role in getting collaboration to happen across the organisation rather than within single teams.
"Abbey is someone our affiliates and teammates know they can always count on," said Lydia Cahill, Senior Director of Creative Services, pointing to her professionalism and her work on behalf of music creators.
The announcement covered this appointment alone, with no other staffing changes named alongside it. Creative services is the part of a rights organisation that sits closest to writers, which makes the role a more visible one than the title suggests. It joins a run of similar appointments across the sector this year, including the CCMA naming its board directors for 2026 and 2027.
