Singer-songwriter and DJ Soleil, who earlier this year drew attention for a jazzy, soulful cover of Dolly Parton's "Jolene," has released a new rnb-soul ballad, "Heart Strings."
Written by Soleil with CJ Hilton, who also produced the track, "Heart Strings" is an old-school R&B ballad built around restrained production designed to showcase her voice. Soleil described the song as capturing "the bittersweet process of letting go while reclaiming the parts of yourself that someone else never gave you."
Hilton's band, Richard Boisrond on guitar, Moises Lenare on drums, Josh Walton on bass and Juan Santiago on keyboards, gives the track a live feel, moving the song from lingering questions and regret toward something more empowering.
