Rapper Soulja Boy says the empty campus in his Rapper University clip was scouting

DDG had predicted nobody would show up for the online school.

Soulja Boy pushed back on a viral clip showing an empty venue, saying it captured him scouting locations before Rapper University auditions rather than an empty launch. "Why yall posting fake news? Rapper university hasn't started yet. This was me looking for a venue for auditions," he wrote.

Rapper University began taking shape after Kai Cenat left Soulja outside his plans on June 9, according to AllHipHop, part of a rift that later included reports that security blocked Soulja from attending Cenat's own Streamer University auditions in Atlanta. The project now accepts one-minute YouTube auditions from rappers, singers, producers, creators and other music professionals, with applicants able to seek roles as students, teachers, mentors, judges, managers or promoters while Soulja plans classes, critiques and guest appearances.

Soulja followed up with a nearly two-minute promotional video casting himself as the school's dean and, in his words, its professor, telling viewers he was there to teach them "this game." He framed the project's goal as practical rather than aspirational: "We not teaching y'all how to be famous. We teaching y'all how to build something that lasts."

The empty-room clip fed off Soulja's earlier Streamer University feud with Kai Cenat, and rival DDG had predicted before Soulja opened applications that nobody would show up, mocking Soulja's recent output in the same breath.

Rapper University's website still lists admissions as open and points to Soulja's Kick channel, with no official premiere date published yet. Soulja Boy has spent the past two years experimenting outside straight hip-hop releases with projects like this one.
