Space Afrika and Alto Aria share collaboration "From The Heart Of Knowing"

Space Afrika and Alto Aria released "From The Heart Of Knowing" on August 18, a hushed collaboration previewing Space Afrika's incoming album, Quiet Storm. The Manchester and Berlin-based duo of Joshua Tarelle Reid and Joshua Inyang built the new album as their most collaborative work to date, and the new song moves between fractal electronics and more club-focused production, touching on dubby low end and trip hop along the way.

"From The Heart Of Knowing" pairs Space Afrika's murmured, modern-classical arrangement with Alto Aria's crystalline vocal, layering breathy woodwind and plucked strings underneath.

Inyang framed the decision to open the album up to outside voices as a way of sharpening the duo's own identity rather than diluting it: "There is always strength and love in collaboration," he said. "But with that, we were able to focus more strongly on our personal identity."

Quiet Storm continues Space Afrika's run of releases exploring the space between ambient electronic music and more rhythm-driven production, and "From The Heart Of Knowing" is the first collaborator to be named publicly ahead of the album.
