Music magazine SPIN and creative studio The Wild Honey Pie form a media partnership

SPIN and The Wild Honey Pie are forming a media partnership built around the kind of up-close artist events the creative studio has spent more than a decade staging. The deal traces back to a Wild Honey Pie Pizza Party featuring the band STRFKR at Paulie Gee's in Chicago this past May, an intimate acoustic show that also folded in a guest string ensemble, dinner and a sense of community that SPIN Senior Partnerships Manager Alex Zefron said made the partnership's potential click into place.

The Wild Honey Pie was founded by Eric Weiner in 2009 as a music blog before evolving into a creative studio and live-event business built around discovery. Its programming now spans Pizza Parties, Dinner Parties pairing musicians with chefs, plus Spooky Mansion, Welcome Campers and On The Mountain events, formats designed to put artists and fans in the same room rather than across a stage.

The company's roster of collaborators stretches from recent names like Bartees Strange, Elephant Revival, Madi Diaz, Passion Pit, STRFKR, Bishop Briggs, Hamilton Leithauser and Phantogram back to Rainbow Kitten Surprise, Big Thief, HAIM, Queens of the Stone Age, Iron & Wine, Dr. Dog, Young the Giant, Tennis, Jason Mraz, Alt J and Eric Clapton. Its events have also raised more than $60,000 for charity since last year.

Under the new agreement, SPIN becomes The Wild Honey Pie's official media partner, providing editorial coverage of its signature programming through artist interviews, photography, video and social storytelling, alongside SPIN branding and merchandise at the events themselves.

"Combined with the charitable mission behind the event, it all felt like a no-brainer," Zefron said, describing the partnership as the kind of deeper, more personal artist connection music fans are increasingly looking for.
