Stephen Steinbrink details upcoming album In a Split Mirror

The Oakland songwriter follows his 2023 album Disappearing Coin with the single 'Magic Mirror.'

Stephen Steinbrink

Stephen Steinbrink has announced a new album, In A Split Mirror, and shared its first single, "Magic Mirror." It's his follow-up to 2023's Disappearing Coin, and the latest release from an Oakland-based singer-songwriter and visual artist who has stayed steadily prolific for years without ever quite becoming a household name.

Over that time, Steinbrink has built as much of his reputation through collaboration as through his own solo records, working with acts including Boy Scouts, Emperor X, Dear Nora and Jay Som and threading his songwriting through several corners of the same DIY indie-folk scene.

"Magic Mirror" is streaming now as the first preview of In A Split Mirror, giving an early look at where Steinbrink is taking his sound three years removed from Disappearing Coin.

The album adds Steinbrink to a run of new indie releases tracked on the release calendar heading into the fall.
