Sudan Archives announces first-ever Argentina tour date

Sudan Archives, the project of violinist, vocalist and producer Brittney Parks, will play her first-ever show in Argentina on September 24 at Niceto Club in Buenos Aires. Tickets are already on sale through Venti, and the set is expected to draw from her latest album, The BPM, along with highlights from across her catalog.

The BPM follows two earlier Sudan Archives records that largely looked backward; this one imagines a dazzling, chrome-plated future instead, one where everyone is tuned into their own sense of rhythm rather than a shared past. It marks a shift in direction for an artist who built her earlier work around reinterpreting older sounds.

The album also traces Parks's own family roots on both sides, her mother's in Michigan and her father's in Illinois. It was completed in part in Chicago and Detroit, pulling in the club sounds specific to those cities alongside influences from Jersey club and contemporary global dance music, plus a heavier focus on rhythm and beat experimentation than her past work.

On The BPM, Parks also introduces a new persona, Gadget Girl, a technologically fluent musician who draws her strength from her relationship with machines rather than a traditional band background. Parks has said she never had the typical path into music, discovering her own voice only once she got her first iPad and started making beats, and later her first electric violin. "I've never felt so free as a human being," she said of fully embracing the Gadget Girl persona.

The Buenos Aires date adds Argentina to a growing list of countries hearing The BPM live for the first time, and gives fans there their first chance to see the electronic artist's evolving live show in person, part of a run tracked alongside other new dates on the tour guide.
