Tank has announced his 12th studio album, EXPERIENCE, for release on September 25 through R&B Money and BMG. The multi-Grammy-nominated singer confirmed the date with an announcement trailer on his social channels.
The record arrives while its lead single is still rising. Yes currently sits at No. 10 on Billboard's Adult R&B Airplay chart and has connected with radio programmers as well as listeners, which is a useful position for an album more than two decades into a career.
He is out on the road at the same time, appearing as a featured performer on The R&B Tour: Raymond and Brown, the co-headlining stadium run with Usher and Chris Brown. That puts the new songs in front of stadium-sized audiences in the weeks around the release.
Television is the other front. Hulu has said the fourth season of its legal drama Reasonable Doubt premieres on October 6, with Tank in the role of Eric Cropper, which lands two weeks after the album.
The album follows a stretch that included a widely watched Verzuz appearance and a sustained run on the R&B airplay charts. EXPERIENCE is built on that rather than on a reinvention, and the title is a fairly direct statement of what the pitch is.
EXPERIENCE will be available to stream and download across the major platforms on September 25, and it is logged on the release calendar for that date. It arrives in a busy autumn for R&B and soul releases alongside Dawn Richard's Creole Culture, and the tour behind it has already grown by eight stadium dates.
