Teenage Fanclub have shared a video for "There Was You," the second single from their upcoming album, Do Not Dare to Dream, due October 9 via Merge Records. Donald Milne directed the clip, following his work on the album's lead single, "Day in the Sun."

Do Not Dare to Dream is the Scottish band's 13th studio album and the follow-up to 2023's Nothing Lasts Forever, 2021's Endless Arcade and 2016's Here. The current lineup pairs founding songwriters Norman Blake and Raymond McGinley with drummer Francis Macdonald, bassist Dave McGowan, who has played with the band since 2004, and keyboardist Euros Childs, formerly of Gorky's Zygotic Mynci.

Landing on a title after 12 previous albums wasn't simple. "Those sentiments are kind of ridiculous. I don't think the world works that way," Blake said of the temptation to reach for a straightforward dare-to-dream sentiment when naming the record.

McGinley struck a similar note, framing the band's three decades together as something that feels compressed rather than long once they're back at work -- both musicians described the album as a continuation rather than a reinvention.

Do Not Dare to Dream is now tracked on the release calendar ahead of its October 9 release, alongside the rest of the fall's indie slate.
