The Big Moon released a new single, "Fun," on August 10, the second preview of their upcoming fourth album, Forever, out October 30 via Fiction Records. The song follows recently released comeback single "Gravity" and centers on the idea that fun can be just as complicated an emotion as misery, an idea frontwoman Juliette Jackson has framed as a corrective to the assumption that only serious, dark art counts as deep.
Jackson told DIY Magazine that joy and humor are just as integral to being human as pain, and just as authentic, an ethos she summed up simply as "pop music forever." The ten-track Forever includes songs titled "Three Things," "F.O.R.E.V.E.R," "Sounds," and the more plainly stated "You Remind Me That I'm Dying (and that it's good to be alive)," suggesting a record willing to sit with heavier material even while chasing an upbeat sound.
The band, an indie quartet fronted by Jackson, also announced a UK headline tour to support the album, with dates in Birmingham, Bristol, Manchester, Leeds and a London show at the O2 Academy Brixton in November. The tour follows the band's earlier announcement of the album alongside its euphoric lead single and a separate UK run in June.
