Composer Wilbert Roget II's expanded Helldivers 2 soundtrack hits streaming

Composer Wilbert Roget II has released three new tracks from the expanded Helldivers 2 soundtrack, Tracks Of Tyranny, on streaming services, NME reported on August 13: "Hive World," "Rise Of The Cyborgs" and "The Illuminate Void." "Two and a half years ago we released a game that changed my life," Roget said in a statement, thanking players, content creators and developers Arrowhead and Sony PlayStation for turning Helldivers 2 into "the phenomenon it's become."

Roget wrote new music for each of the game's enemy factions to score the next chapter of its Second Galactic War storyline, working again with the Nashville Scoring Orchestra and Ocean Way Studios alongside a wider team of soloists, engineers and editors. Helldivers 2 casts players as soldiers defending Super Earth against the genetically engineered Terminds, the mechanical Automatons and the alien Illuminate, a premise NME traces to 1997's Starship Troopers, itself based on Robert A. Heinlein's 1959 novel.

Helldivers 2 launched in 2024 for PlayStation 5 and PC, with an Xbox Series X/S version following the next year, and has sold more than 20 million copies while continuing to receive regular updates from developer Arrowhead Game Studios.

A Helldivers movie was confirmed at the start of last year, with Jason Momoa announced in an unconfirmed role in February. According to PlayStation Productions head Asad Qizilbash, the film will draw heavily on the world established in Helldivers 2.

The new soundtrack material sits within electronic and the release calendar on MusicSuey alongside the rest of the year's score and soundtrack releases.
