The Wilder Blue announced a new album called "Cinco," fittingly their fifth full-length, due Aug. 28, Saving Country Music reported. The country band, made up of singer-songwriter Zane Williams, guitarist Paul Eason, bassist Sean Rodriguez, multi-instrumentalist Andy Rogers and drummer Lyndon Hughes, formerly performed as Hill Country before adopting the Wilder Blue name in 2020.
Recorded at Sonic Ranch in Tornillo, Texas, and produced by Hughes alongside the rest of the band, "Cinco" is billed as the group's most "fully realized" record yet, built around their five-part harmonies with more outside contributors than any prior album. "We set out to make an album that pairs well with campfire coffee kettles, dusty neon band signs, and sun-bleached dashboard Polaroids," Williams said. "We figured it out together, as friends, the five of us. It was exhausting and exhilarating."
Country singer Tracy Byrd guests on lead single "Texas Women," one of the record's 10 tracks; additional musicians on the album include Travis Bishop on piano and keyboards, Harrison Yount on guitar and Steve Auburn on fiddle. A second single, "Chasin' the Sun," arrived alongside the announcement.
Since debuting in 2020, the Wilder Blue has built a reputation as a standout live act, earning opening slots for Luke Combs while blending country with classic rock and other influences. The band described the making of "Cinco" as more emotionally demanding than past records: "There were nights we couldn't sleep because of the ideas floating in our heads," they said, adding that frustration sometimes pulled them apart before songs came together in ways they hadn't planned.
The band's chemistry, more than any single member's playing, has long been central to its appeal live, where all five contribute solo vocals and instrumental turns rather than deferring to a single frontman. "Cinco" is set for release the same month the band continues touring behind its growing catalog of five studio albums.
