Tobacco's High On Life 2 score arrives as a 4LP set

The 66-track score gets its first vinyl pressing, sold for $66 in the US.

Tobacco

Tobacco has pressed his full score for the video game High On Life 2 to vinyl for the first time, spreading all 66 tracks across a 4LP set. The first volume comes on red and yellow swirl discs, the second on transparent blue with a purple swirl, and the set sells for $66 in the US.

Tobacco is the recording alias of Thomas Fec, frontman of the psychedelic rock band Black Moth Super Rainbow, and he blends that band's sound with electronic score work here. He wrote the score for High On Life 2, the sequel to the 2022 comedic first-person shooter from Squanch Games, released earlier this year. A one-disc vinyl edition sold out when the game launched in February, and the full soundtrack reached streaming in April.

High On Life 2 follows a bounty hunter who has already taken down an intergalactic cartel and hunted bounties across the galaxy, only for a mysterious figure from their past to put a price on their sister's head. The game casts players back alongside its "rag-tag team of alien misfits," battling an evil pharmaceutical conglomerate that has put price tags on human life, according to the game's official description.

NME did not confirm details of an international vinyl release, though it said a CD version is still coming.

The vinyl release lands as game soundtracks keep finding an audience beyond the games themselves; NME pointed to Hades, Doom and Stardew Valley as other scores fans still argue over.
