Treach rules out a Naughty By Nature reunion, and Vin Rock responds

Treach has ruled out any reunion of Naughty By Nature, AllHipHop reported on August 12, a sharp turn from an earlier interview with the outlet in which he had sounded open to the idea. Speaking with Tony Yayo and Uncle Murda, Treach said certain things had been done and said that he simply could not get past.

AllHipHop traced the rift to old friction between Treach and Vin Rock, including a private physical altercation the pair had reportedly moved beyond, before an interview Vin Rock had given earlier resurfaced and made details of the confrontation public again. The outlet reported that other business and personal disagreements between the two remain unresolved.

Vin Rock responded to disappointed fans by pointing to what the group has built outside of records, writing that Naughty is "set for life" through business assets, equity and passive income, and urging fans to focus on "your own family's future, legacy and assets" instead of the group's status.

Treach appears focused on his solo career while Vin Rock and DJ Kay Gee continue working together, without any of the three publicly discussing a full reconciliation. AllHipHop framed the rift as notable in part because hip-hop's audience, like the group itself, is aging alongside its foundational acts.

The trio's chemistry made them one of hip-hop's most recognizable acts of the 1990s, which is part of why AllHipHop's report closed on a hopeful note, saying it hopes the two eventually find their way back to each other even without an album, tour or payday attached. For now, no reunion is on the table, and Vin Rock's message suggests the group's business ventures, not a stage return, are where its energy is going.
