Twin Temple set their third record Doomed Lovers for 23 October

Twin Temple have announced their third record, Doomed Lovers, due 23 October via Pentagrammaton Records, The Line of Best Fit reported on August 14. The Satanic doo wop duo, Alexandra and Zachary James, recorded the album with Shooter Jennings at Sunset Sound's Studio 3 in Hollywood, working with a 37-piece orchestra and drummers Matt Chamberlain and Jay Bellerose.

The duo say they wanted to push their production further than before, drawing on the lush orchestral style of Roy Orbison, The Ronettes and The Shangri-Las. The new single Haunt Me follows the album's title track, and the pair describe it as a gothic love song about fear, obsession, dread and jealousy, with nods to classic American gospel, 1960s rock and roll and the blues.

The announcement comes after Twin Temple were dropped from a run of shows with country artist Charley Crockett over their Satanic imagery, which led Jack White to invite them to open his Hollywood Palladium date on 29 September. They have also added headline shows around support slots with Danzig in September and October.

Twin Temple made their late-night television debut on The Daily Show, performing Haunt Me and speaking with host Jordan Klepper about the record, which the band says was made during one of the darkest periods of their lives. "The truth is, this album was made during one of the darkest periods of our lives," they said, describing a stretch marked by grief, health issues, addiction and depression that recording slowly helped pull them out of.

Doomed Lovers runs eight tracks: the title track, "Possessed," "I Want Blood," "Love You To Death," "Haunt Me," "Someone In The Walls," "Monster" and closer "Nothing Matters."
