Cambridge sextet UGLY book a UK headline tour for autumn

The band's new single, Marina, is out now, produced from sessions the group calls a departure toward more raw, physical energy.

UGLY

Cambridge-born sextet UGLY have released new single "Marina" and announced a UK headline tour for autumn, opening in Leeds on October 24 and also stopping in Southampton, Brighton, Nottingham and Glasgow.

"Marina" is the band's first new music since 2025 singles "Gallowine" and "Next To Die," which followed their debut EP Twice Around The Sun. The band first worked the song into their live set back in 2024; it now previews UGLY's still-unannounced debut album, recorded in Wales and completed in London with producer Balazs Altsach.

Singer Jasmine Miller-Sauchella said the song grew out of a session where she had been listening heavily to Pixies' Surfer Rosa, particularly "Gigantic," which pushed her toward wanting more grit and physical energy in the track. "There needed to be an element of grit, raw power and sexual energy to 'Marina,'" she said, describing the lyrics as almost pleading and adding that singing them still makes her smile, "like Kim Deal."

The band's rock tour and new music join the fall's new releases on the release calendar and the tour guide.
