Uncle Acid & The Deadbeats have released "House By The Grave," the opening track from their upcoming seventh album, Metal Injection reported. "'Yonder stands the sinner' really sums it all up," said the band's vocalist and lead guitarist, Kevin Starrs.
The album, Shapes of Midnight, turns Edgar Allan Poe's "The Masque of the Red Death" into a concept record the band describes as having an evil Beatles feel. It was tracked at Abbey Road Studios with engineer Chris Bolster, who has worked with Ozzy Osbourne, Paul McCartney and Phil Spector.
Uncle Acid & The Deadbeats formed in Cambridge, England, and built their reputation on doom-laden, psychedelic riffs delivered through Starrs's disguised, half-whispered vocals, a sound that has drawn comparisons to Black Sabbath filtered through 1960s horror and true-crime imagery across the band's catalog. Basing an entire record on a specific Poe story marks one of their more direct literary concepts to date.
The record arrives September 18 on Killer Candy Records, and preorders have already sold out. The metal band has an extensive run of tour dates lined up, starting September 8 in Charlotte, North Carolina, and running through US cities before a UK trek in November and December with support act The Wytches.
