Vic Mensa has a podcast coming with Chance the Rapper on it

Vic Mensa is launching a new podcast, The Vic Mensa Show, with the first episode set for August 26 and Chance the Rapper joining for the premiere, AllHipHop reported on August 12. The Chicago rapper announced the show on August 10, with new episodes rolling out weekly for 24 episodes across its first season.

"Music, culture and politics have always been intrinsically intertwined in my practice and in the larger tradition from which I emerge," Mensa told Billboard, pointing to hip-hop's role in his own political education, from learning about activist Assata Shakur through Common's music to learning about capitalism through Lauryn Hill's.

That thread eventually pushed Mensa toward writing for outlets including The New York Times and Time, and into his Webby-winning "Orange Tree" video series. "The Orange Tree illustrated for me the transcendent possibilities of conversation: a space for the discussion of radical ideas, humor, honesty and vulnerability," he said in a statement, describing the new podcast as that same series opened up to include more of the artists, thinkers and loved ones he has been in dialogue with.

The guest list includes Rapsody, Durand Bernarr, Lena Waithe, Aja Monet and Van Lathan Jr. AllHipHop frames the launch as playing off Mensa's beef with Cam'ron, though the show itself is pitched as a wider platform for conversation rather than a direct response. It is released through a partnership between Mass Appeal and ORANJ, Mensa's new multidisciplinary production company, with Pickup Media and Blank Square Productions executive producing.

Musically, Mensa's most recent solo album was Victor, released in 2023, and he later appeared on Chance the Rapper's 2025 album Star Line. Episodes will be distributed across major podcast platforms including Spotify, Apple and YouTube, part of a busy year of hip-hop news.
