Lea Londa has been named director of Warner Records Germany, a new frontline label Warner Music Central Europe has launched in Berlin. Music Business Worldwide reported the appointment on September 1.
Londa reports to Jean-Sebastien Permal, senior vice president of A&R for EMEA and Central Europe. Warner said the label's roster already includes Udo Lindenberg, Provinz, LINA and Yasola.
She is a 16-year industry veteran who has spent more than a decade at the company in Germany, rising from media manager to marketing director. Her campaign work has spanned releases by Coldplay, Enya, Ed Sheeran and Linkin Park.
On the domestic side, she led the campaign behind Komet, the Udo Lindenberg and Apache 207 single that holds the record for the longest-running No. 1 in German chart history. Warner also credited her with supporting the breakthrough of Provinz, with Gold and Platinum campaigns for Robin Schulz, and with developing MilleniumKid.
Aaron Bay-Schuck and Tom Corson, who co-chair Warner Records, said the launch reinforces a global commitment to championing creative talent and gives the German team room to develop artists at home and abroad. Niels Walboomers, president of Warner Music Central Europe, said the company is building a modern label model that puts artists first.
It is the latest structural move in a busy period for the group, which has also been reported on for an 11 percent quarterly streaming gain, a rebuilt Nashville marketing team and a new tech hub in Bengaluru.
